Developing a world-class museum exhibit

The Challenge:

Lockheed Martin has a long standing relationship with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm Museum, through its position as prime contractor for the RAF Merlin Helicopter programme. The Engage team were tasked to update the Museum’s 250 sqm Merlin display zone, focusing on the recently deployed and upgraded Merlin Mk2 variant.

The Creative:

A host of new design treatments were created to showcase Merlin across its many operational roles, reinforcing its extensive mission capabilities: search and rescue: maritime surveillance; and humanitarian activities, among others.

Infographic content across over 20 displays was replaced and refreshed, allowing visitors greater insights into key aspects of the Merlin Mk2’s sophisticated technologies. Content also focused on the continuing role of the helicopter in support of the Royal Navy’s global operations. A bespoke Merlin helicopter flight simulator challenge was also designed and installed, offering visitors an authentic and interactive helicopter flying experience.
