Carbon Reduction Plan

Engage Marketing Ltd is committed to reducing its environmental impact and achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21.

This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our emissions baseline, progress to date, future reduction goals, and the initiatives we are implementing to support a low-carbon, sustainable business. This plan is prepared in line with the UK Government’s Carbon Reduction Plan guidance for suppliers bidding for major government contracts.

 

Our Net Zero Commitment

We are committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest. This commitment applies to our Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions across all operations.

 

Emissions Reporting Methodology

Our emissions are calculated using the:

  • Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard
  • UK Government DEFRA emissions factors
  • Homeworking methodology published by BEIS for remote-based workforces

Emissions estimates are based on operational activity data including business travel, homeworking energy use, procurement estimates and waste generation.

 

Baseline Emissions (Baseline Year: 2024)

2024 represents Engage Marketing’s first carbon reporting baseline year.

As formal emissions measurement had not previously been undertaken, baseline emissions have been retrospectively estimated using operational activity data and DEFRA conversion factors in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Engage Marketing operates a remote-first business model with no owned buildings or vehicle fleet. Emissions arise primarily from home-working electricity consumption, business travel and operational procurement.

Our baseline emissions for 2024 are:

  • Scope 1: 0 tCO₂e
  • Scope 2: 0.01 tCO₂e – estimated home-working electricity consumption
  • Scope 3: 6.17 tCO₂e – homeworking, business travel, procurement and operational waste

Total baseline emissions 6.18 tCO₂e

Scope 3 emissions include:

  • Business travel
  • Homeworking
  • Purchased goods and services
  • Waste generated in operations
  • Upstream transportation and distribution

Relevant Scope 3 categories have been included in line with PPN 06/21 requirements.

Current Emissions (2025)

2025 represents the first year in which Engage Marketing has begun formally tracking emissions using a structured carbon accounting methodology aligned with the GHG Protocol and DEFRA conversion factors.

Emissions monitoring commenced in November 2025.
Full-year emissions for 2025 will be calculated and published in the next annual update of this Carbon Reduction Plan once a complete reporting period is available.

 

Carbon Reduction Targets

Engage aims to reduce carbon emissions as follows:

  • 25% reduction by 2030 (from 2024 baseline)
  • 40% reduction by 2040
  • Net Zero emissions by 2050

Progress against these targets is reviewed annually and objectives are updated accordingly.

  • Remote-first working model reducing commuting emissions
  • Digital-first delivery reducing print and material use
  • Cloud-based tools replacing energy-intensive on-premises infrastructure
  • Sustainable travel policy (rail over air, virtual meetings where possible)
  • Recycling and waste minimisation across co-working spaces
  • Integration of sustainability considerations within procurement processes

  • Annual emissions reviews aligned with GHG Protocol
  • Enhanced energy efficiency across employee devices
  • Strengthened supplier sustainability assessments
  • Enhanced emissions monitoring aligned with DEFRA standards
  • Carbon awareness and best-practice guidance for employees

Governance & Review

This plan is reviewed annually and approved by the Directors of Engage Marketing Limited. It will be updated sooner if material organisational or regulatory changes occur.

Public Availability

This Carbon Reduction Plan is published in accordance with PPN 06/21 and is available to the public on the Engage Marketing website.

Declaration & Approval

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
