Launching a New Commando Capability

The brief

Leidos has an incredible array of maritime capabilities in crewed and uncrewed vessels, both above and below water. Sea Dagger, is their next-generation Commando Insertion Craft concept developed for the Royal Navy. The first craft of its size to combine speed, range, vehicle delivery and modular mission systems into a single platform, Sea Dagger sets a new standard in maritime autonomy and operational agility. Engage was asked to create film and graphic assets to support the launch of Sea Dagger at DSEI in 2025.

The work

To reinforce the credibility, capability and performance of the vessel, we recommended a ‘photorealistic’ approach to the creation of graphics and animation, highlighting key capabilities and showing a typical Commando mission. Using CGI, and modelling everything from the vessel to the various sea states in which Sea Dagger will perform, our short films follows Sea Dagger as it delivers Commandos from sea to shore. Just one of myriad potential missions for the craft within a hybrid-navy.

The outcome

Our visual support contributed to a successful launch of Sea Dagger at DSEI and digitally around the globe, generating great coverage and international interest. From scores of LinkedIn posts sharing our film, to hours of coverage in Defence media, you could say Sea Dagger has caused something of a ‘splash’…
