The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) has sites across the UK, from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to HMS Caroline in Belfast. Together with Lockheed Martin, the NMRN commissioned Engage to create an innovative F-35 Exhibit for their new immersive aircraft carrier experience at the Fleet Air Arm Museum. The F-35 is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft and gives the Royal Navy’s Carrier Strike Group its air superiority.
Together with the museum’s design team, we created a low-budget but high-impact exhibit using film and projection over a rotating model of the aircraft as a finale to the immersive carrier experience. We undertook all scripting, storyboarding, animating, production and testing, as well as overseeing installation to deliver a unique insight into the world’s most advanced aircraft.
Delivered on-time and below budget, the F-35 Experience has proved a particular favourite for museum visitors, especially with its high impact engine roar finale. Lockheed Martin commissioned a further mock-simulator experience featuring their unique SkunkWorks™ Darkstar aeroplane as flown by Tom Cruise in Top Gun Maverick.
